Have you ever experienced disappointment, feeling like someone has failed you? Has someone let you down whom you never thought would or they’ve even become a different person than they used to be. Did you hold someone on a pedestal you created for them in your own mind and they’ve shown their humanity to you, leaving you disheartened and untrusting? Perhaps you’re waiting on The Lord to send you a helpmeet and the pit of loneliness is holding you captive?
I want to share a simple, yet, life changing truth with you today. He can fill any void.
I’ve heard so many precious people tell me how disappointed they are because their spouse, friend, parent, etc. has failed to be what they have needed. There was a standard or place they felt should’ve been filled and it wasn’t. It was never met which left nothing but an empty space where those expectations once dwelled. I’ve heard bitter children sob as they share all the ways they discern their parents have failed them. Wives broken, as their husbands couldn’t fulfill them spiritually or emotionally. Young men and women who wish so greatly for a helpmeet and companion. Church members desiring more than any pastor could ever give. Pastor’s wives drowning in the sea that is ministry. All these and so many more I could name all have one thing in commom. There is a void they perceive a person should have filled for them and that person failed.
You see, a harsh reality is that people are going to fail you. Some intentionally, many unintentionally. Often we’re the ones that fail ourselves because we set expectations on other people or dreams that only The Lord can provide. We put those expectations in places that The Lord should’ve been. In some cases we even end up worshipping those desires by allowing them to rule our lives.
God’s Word tells us that He can be our everything if we let Him.
Mother, Father, Sibling, Spouse, Rock, Defense, Comforter, Shelter, Healer, Savior, Master, Friend, anything we could ever desire can be found in Him.
There is no relationship on this earth that could ever compare to the intimate fellowship of walking hand in hand with The Lord. Only He will bring the satisfaction you’re looking for. There is no job, boyfriend, spouse, child, pastor etc. that will satisfy the void deep within you. If you’re struggling with a void inside, let Christ fill it. Draw up close to Him. Cling to Him with all you’ve got because only The One who created the soul, can satisfy it.
